I can see this Unit being used for many applications, ie: music production, event audio playback, and sampling of sounds and sound effects for TV and Film work. With a street price of 399.00 US, the MPC Studio is affordable and compact enough to be used in Studio and on Location. MPC Studio is simple to install and CPU friendly. Each having a unique look at MPC Old and New. I was up and running in no time and making Beats and Sampling sounds of my own to add to the extensive array of included sounds, loops, and sequences. This is my first foray into the World of the MPC and I have to say, "Well Done Akai". The Plugin comes in RTAS, VST, and Audio Units so it covers all the DAW plugin bases. MPC Studio works in both Standalone and as a Plugin with your favorite DAW.
The software makes MPC Studio feel comfortable for those that are from a Software Only background as well. It will take you back to the exciting days of early Hardware Sequencing with a Twist, Software !!! The unit can be used without using a mouse for nearly all functions. The Hardware is a USB Powered Control Surface that is very easy to use and lightweight enough to toss into a backpack and head off to the mountains or the beach to create some Beats.
